Annual Round-up
|
Rebecca Dilley, Junior at Huntsville High School, tries in vain to "stop the flow" Saturday of trucks and trailers waiting in line at the Countys Roundup held this last Saturday. "The line reached almost to highway 74", exclaimed Millie McDaniel, who had to make her way through the traffic to the Recycling Center with a pan of cinnamon rolls she baked for the many volunteers and staff who worked the event. "Citizens brought in 135 appliances, 30 air-conditioners, 81 TVs and computer monitors, 1152 pounds of lead-acid batteries, 83 tires, 120 cubic yards of furniture and mattresses and assorted paint, motor oil and other household hazardous waste and several tractor trailers full of scrap steel", reported Larry Karigan-Winter, Director at the Center. "This Roundup could not be held without the continued support by our many volunteers, some who come in every day, that give so freely of their time and energy. The weather was good and it was one of our best Roundups ever." |
